Epeorus nymphs are clingers preferring fast moving riffles and require clean, pollution free water. Biologist use these nymphs as an indicator of a streams water quality. Vitreus males are a size smaller than the females. The male body color is very pale creamy olive, while the female body color is oliveish orange. Epeorus vitreus hatch twice a season early June, and again in September.
